The Venue: The Cervantes Ballroom
Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom, located at 2637 Welton Street in Denver, Colorado, is a venue steeped in rich musical history. Initially known as the Casino Cabaret, its roots date back to the 1930s, during the era of the famous Cotton Club. This venue played a pivotal role in the jazz scene, hosting legendary artists like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman when they toured through Denver. Over the years, the Casino Cabaret continued to be a hub for music legends, with performances by James Brown, BB King, Ray Charles, Ike & Tina Turner, and many others.
The transformation into Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom marked the continuation of this legacy, with the grand opening in January 2003. Since then, Cervantes' has hosted thousands of live shows, featuring a wide array of artists from various genres. Notable performances have included artists like Chris Robinson of Black Crowes, Derek Trucks, Dr. John, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Nas, Big Boi, STS9, Sam Bush, Page McConnell of Phish, Branford Marsalis, and Warren Haynes, showcasing its versatility as a music venue.
The venue is unique in its structure, offering two separate rooms for live music — Cervantes' and The Other Side. These rooms operate independently but are connected, allowing guests to move freely between them. Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom can accommodate up to 900 people and features a balcony that wraps around the entire room, creating an intimate setting. It boasts a top-of-the-line sound system, including a Meyer MICALine Array and six Meyer 650P subs, ensuring a high-quality auditory experience. The Other Side, meanwhile, can hold up to 500 people and also has impressive features, making it a standout among Denver's live music venues
